By the time I close the laptop, I already know exactly what I'm doing at 4am. No decisions to make in the dark. Just open the task and go.
Then I pick up a book. 15 to 30 minutes. I'm usually asleep before I finish the chapter.
Weekends are different.
Saturday morning is the same: 4am, water, deep work until 7:30. Then CrossFit from 8 to 8:45. After that, house cleaning, gardening, lunch with family.
When everyone settles in for the afternoon, I go back to the computer. Two to four hours. This is my most productive building time of the week. No meetings, no Slack, no interruptions. I record videos, write content, build.
Sunday follows the same pattern. Morning deep work, then afternoon for weekly reflection, planning the next week, more building. I try to go out with my wife at some point. Family dinner in the evening. Book at night.
The routine works because the evening protects the morning. I don't use my phone in bed. When I scroll, I go longer than I plan. When I read, I'm asleep within minutes. Before I close the laptop each night, I write what I accomplished and my top 2 to 3 priorities for tomorrow. By morning, the decision is already made.
I'm 53. Full-time job. Startup. Content. Family. Gym.
It all fits. But only because the structure is there.
